School Update 9pm

4 January 2021 (by admin)

Dear Parents,

We are writing to you this evening following the announcement made by the Prime Minister tonight at 8.00pm.

The Senior Leadership Team and the Chair of Governors are in communication with each other this evening planning provision for our school. The Prime Minister has announced that primary schools in England will move to remote learning provision from tomorrow for most children. That means that school is partially closed to all pupils except those of identified vulnerable pupils and critical workers.

The Chair of Governors has ratified the decision that the Senior Leadership Team and school staff will need tomorrow to organise the provision for children of Critical Workers and communicate remote learning for those children remaining at home.

Therefore, Mackie Hill school will only be open to vulnerable children on Tuesday 5th January 2020. The parents of children who have been identified as being vulnerable will be contacted directly tonight with information on the organisation for tomorrow. This organisation will be temporary for one day.

All other parents will need to make childcare arrangements for tomorrow. Unfortunately, this is unavoidable as the government have made the announcement so late in the evening that we cannot identify and make provision for the children of Critical Workers overnight. All parents will be sent a text message tomorrow morning to request a Critical Worker place.

Tomorrow, all parents will receive a text message containing information on how to access remote learning for your child’s class. This will also be on the school website as soon as possible.

We are awaiting clarification on the opening of our Nursery provision from government guidance which is due to be published soon. Therefore, Nursery will only be open to vulnerable pupils tomorrow.

It is our intention to continue with the extended school provision, both before and after school in a paid capacity as it is now. We will confirm that this facility is able to be open once the guidance is published.

As ever, we are thankful for the support of our school community. Please give us time to communicate effectively with you tomorrow and hopefully we can answer any questions you may have.

Best Wishes,

Mrs Elliott
