The Green Team

Mackie Hill are committed to providing excellent outdoor learning. We are promoting outdoor learning in all areas of the curriculum and our school is hoping to become a Forest School in the near future so we can further develop out outdoor learning environment.

Our RSPB Wildlife Explorers afterschool club is always extremely popular. Ranging from ages 5-11 the children complete nature surveys, correspond with the RSPB, maintain the gardens and learn all about the flora and fauna in and around our school grounds.

We are RPSB Wildlife Explorers and follow the Wildlife and Climate Action Awards when planning activities to support and nurture the children's love of the great outdoors.

More recently we have redeveloped our school allotment and the children have grown radish, peas, onions, potatoes, rhubarb, strawberries, herbs and dwarf and broad beans. The Fabulous Foxes created spicy potato skins from our fresh potatoes and shared them with the Green Team. The Green Team then prepared fresh and fried red and white onions to complete a 'blind' taste test which we then shared with parents. We also had a bountiful harvest of peas, which we shared with the entire school!
